Hallux Fracture

Non-displaced oblique intra-articular hallux fracture located at the base of the distal phalanx. No worries. Supportive shoe gear, take it easy and let it heal. Rarely do digital fractures require much more when rest and proper precautions are administered. Don’t overdo it or the fracture fragment could shift resulting in subsequent arthritis to the joint down the road. As one of my favorite old school attendings used to say at RUMC “two bones are in a very small room together, they will find each other.” It typically works. Concerned or not improving? Let’s have a look.
